Aida Casamitjana - Executive Director

Aida Casamitjana is currently the Executive Director of AmChamSpain, where she has been working since 2010. Her duties include directing and managing the policies approved by the Governing Board and the President, chamber operations, the activities of AmChamSpain and its 8+ working committees, as well as alliances with other institutions. In 2016, she was elected to the Executive Committee of Amchams in Europe Association, the umbrella organization for directors of 46 AmChams from 44 countries throughout Europe and Eurasia. Before joining the Chamber, she worked in the Club de Madrid and in Mango’s international expansion department. She received her undergraduate degree in Law from the Universidad de Barcelona and holds a master’s degree from the IE Business School. She speaks Spanish, English, French, German and Catalan.


Alejandro Rueda - Programs Director

Alejando holds a degree in International Trade and Marketing Management from the University of Wales. Most of his career has been connected to chambers of commerce, first by leading the international departments of the Chambers of Commerce of Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, and, since 2009, with AmChamSpain, where he was first the executive director of the Canary Islands Chapter, and later on became Policy director, managing all of the AmChamSpain committees and working groups. Alejandro is a specialist in access to developing markets, with experience as project manager in countries such as Cabo Verde, Senegal, Haiti, Sierra Leone and Ghana.

Marta Martorell - Finance and HR Director

Marta Martorell holds a degree in Business Administration and Management from the Universidad de Barcelona. Since early 2011, she has held the position of Finance and Human Resources Director at the Chamber of Commerce. She speaks Spanish, Catalan and English. In the course of her 10 years as a professional in the finance and accounting sector, she has worked in interior design and computer-part import companies, as well as in municipal sports centers, accruing a wide-ranging experience in both financial management and in human resource management.

Sharlene Alonso - Head of Marketing and Communication

Sharlene Alonso is Head of Marketing and Communication in the Chamber. Born in New York, she has studied at the United Nations International School and has dual citizenship (American-Spanish). She has a degree in International Studies from the American University in Washington, DC where she studied international economic development and communication. In the city of Washington DC, she worked with several NGOs in the communication sector and interned in a Congressional office assisting the congressman’s electoral campaign. After completing her undergraduate studies, she moved to Barcelona to study a Master's Degree in Diplomacy and International Public Service at the Center for International Studies - University of Barcelona. Since then she has collaborated in several NGOs, in law firms and international academic institutions as marketing, communication and international relations specialist. Sharlene speaks English, Spanish, French and Catalan.

Paco Flores - Press Officer

Senior Consultant and Press Officer of AmChamSpain, with over 30 years of experience. With a degree in Law and Journalism, he has been the Director of Institutional Communication at Grupo Holding INI, EADS-CASA, SEAT-VW and IBERIA. He has been an advisor to the Government of Andalusia, SafeiBancaPrivada, Barclays Capital, McKinsey, Albiñana and KPMG. He led the merger and acquisition operations between ENEL-Endesa, UBS-Gas Natural-Endesa, CVC-Altadis, TPG-Iberia, and Barclays-ABN AMRO, as well as the public offerings of CAM, Endesa and Repsol. He also acted as advisor to the Spanish Tobacco Association (AET), Astroc and Habitat on debt restructuring.

Charo Ouro - Administrative Manager

Charo Ouro is the Administrative Manager of the AmChamSpain. She previously held the position of Coordinator for Committees and Marketing. Maria Rosario has studied Administrative Management, Public Relations and International Trade; she speaks Spanish, Catalan and English. With more than 10 years of international experience, she had worked at different Ministries at the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. At the General Consulate of Spain (2001-2007) her duties included Visa Applications, Spanish Citizenship, Power of Attorney; At ICEX in the Commercial Office, accounting and coordination of agendas with Spanish Companies and Multilateral Organizations; At the Educational Department (2013-2014), processing recognition and approval of US studies and diplomas in Spain and processing the J Visa Non objection letter.

Sandra Jabalquinto - Membership Development

Prior to joining AmChamSpain, Sandra worked in the same area of Membership Development for AmCham Mexico, Monterrey Division, attracting local, national and international companies that represent an added value of mutual benefit to the Chamber and its partners. With more than 10 years of experience in the commercial sector, she has worked as Business Manager for the ING Financial Group, as well as for the HSBC Corporate Group in the same sector. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Criminology and has studied International Business as part of the NASBITE International’s CGBP (Certified Global Business Professional) program. She has also received training in Advanced Negotiation Skills, Objection Management and Closing Sales, as well as LIMBRA Management Training. She is proficient in English, having taught business level classes for many years, and having worked for IMNRC, the only school recognized by the United States Embassy in Monterrey, Mexico, where she also created and taught a training seminar for teachers. She is a native speaker of Spanish.

Juan Ruiz - Operations Manager

Juan Ruiz is currently the Operations Manager of the Chamber, where he has been working since August 1974. He previously held the positions of Assistant Controller, being in charge of partner control and communications,as well as Accountant and Finance Director. He has studied advanced accounting, payroll and social security, and is currently studying HR Management at the Universidad de Barcelona and the EAE Business School. He previously worked at the travel agency Internacional Expreso and at the Hotel Nouvel in Barcelona.

Marc Rodríguez- Events Coordinator

Marc Rodríguez holds a degree in History from the University of Barcelona and has a master's degree in International Relations from IBEI. In 2015 he was awarded by the Clinton Foundation to attend The Clinton International Summer School at INCORE (Northern Ireland). Before joining AmCham Spain, he worked as a technical assistant at the International Relations Direction of Diputació de Barcelona and as a project manager assistant in Barcelona Global. He speaks Catalan, Spanish and English
