In conversation with José Manuel Albares - Spain, Europe and the U.S. in the new Global Context

On Friday, March 17th, we held the event "Spain, Europe, and the United States in the new global context", with the presence of José Manuel Albares, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation.

In his welcoming remarks, Jaime Malet, President of AmChamSpain, emphasized that Spain is in a privileged position to attract strategic investments due to its geographical location and relative institutional stability. He also invited Spanish companies to continue expanding their presence in the United States through the Biden Administration's fiscal expansion plans. Finally, he called for the use of the Spanish presidency of the EU Council to promote the transatlantic ties.

Following his intervention, Minister Albares stressed the importance of continuing to defend transatlantic values - including democracy, plurality, and diversity - against autocratic models. He also emphasized the need to continue strengthening the relationship between Spain and the United States and maintaining joint strategic positions to face challenges such as destabilization of the energy market, the war in Ukraine, or climate change.

We thank the Minister for his participation, as well as the Official Sponsors of AmChamSpain for making this event a reality: BMS, Delta, Gilead, Nippon Gases, and Santander.
