On June 20, AmChamSpain organized a meeting at Repsol’s headquarters with an official delegation from the U.S. House Committee on Energy & Commerce. The session, held in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, began with welcome remarks from representatives of Repsol, AmChamSpain, and the U.S. Embassy.
During the event, members of the U.S. delegation shared insights into the role of the committee in Congress and its strategic interests in Spain. Member companies of AmChamSpain also gave brief presentations highlighting their operations and projects in the United States.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on key issues for U.S.–Spain energy cooperation, including barriers—technical, regulatory, or financial—to scaling clean technologies in the U.S., the role of U.S. gas in stabilizing renewable-heavy grids like Spain’s, incentives for storage, flexible generation, and smart grid investment in Spain, alignment on standards and coordination against foreign influence (particularly from China), and how Spain balances its efforts to attract big tech investment with its strong climate and environmental regulations.
AmChamSpain thanks all participants and the U.S. delegation for their valuable contributions.
