January 11th, Madrid: AmCham Spain organized a business luncheon for a high-level delegation from the United States that included Senator Mel Martinez (R-Florida), Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Senator John Thune (R-South Dakota) and Senator Larry Craig (R-Idaho). These influential senators, the US Ambassador to Spain, Eduardo Aguirre, the President of AmCham Spain, Jaime Malet, and an array of executives from leading Spanish energy companies exchanged ideas on how to promote renewable energies and foster cooperation in the field of energy between the US and Spain.

December 13th, Madrid: The Royal Highnesses Prince Felipe de Asturias and Princesa Leticia presided over the gala dinner held on the 13 th of December to mark the 90 th anniversary of the founding of the American Chamber of Commerce in Spain. In addition to a speech by HRH Prince Felipe, the event featured addresses by the US Ambassador to Spain, the Hon. Eduardo Aguirre, and the President of AmCham Spain, Jaime Malet as well as a musical performance by the renown singer Antonio Carmona.

June 25th-26th, Madrid: 1st US-EU Business Roundtable on Energy & Technology. Organized by AmCham Spain, this high-level international conference on energy will focus on assessing how existing technologies and those which are being developed can lead to a lesser reliance on fossil fuels and make them more efficient and less polluting, help fulfill increasing energy needs and identify and promote a cleaner, safer and more efficient energy environment in the years to come. The conference will also aim to put together traditional producers and distributors of all kinds of energy with new alternative energy players. The Business Roundtable will become a yearly business forum organized by AmCham Spain in order to promote discussion between businessmen, government officials, regulators and analysts from both the European Union and the US on energy and technology.

March 14th, Madrid: AmCham Spain and the American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union jointly organized the high-level international conference “Launching a new agenda for a transatlantic economic alliance” about the legislative and regulatory framework of the transatlantic economic relationship. The conference examined from a predominantly business standpoint the prospects for the creation of a more integrated transatlantic market between the US and the European Union in accordance with the proposal put forward by the German EU Presidency.

February 9-13, 2004: Trade Mission to Texas, “Trans Texas Corridor – Opportunities of Spain companies.” The Trans Texas Corridor, with a value of more than 150 billion dollars, is the greater infrastructure project in EE.UU. for the next years. It includes more than 4,000 miles of highways up to 1,200 feet of wide, with specific tracks for automobiles and trucks, high speed trains and optical fiber.
